When Jon Bon Jovi and his bandmates take the stage for their latest show, they’re not just hoping to sell some records. These guys believe in the music they play and genuinely enjoy making it. That’s why kids flock to their concerts like mad. And why they love them so much that they let them pick the songs for their new albums – something no other rock band has ever done!
Jon Bongiovi was born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ (as was his father) the son of two former Marines. He played the New Jersey club circuit plugging away in various bands until he was 22. Then, he hit on Runaway, a song that he recorded at the studio owned by his cousin Tony Bongiovi in New York City. That record caught the attention of PolyGram execs and the company signed Jon to a contract. That’s when the anglicization of his last name to Bon Jovi took place, thanks to the help of A & R man Derek Shulman.
Bon Jovi quickly became one of the biggest rock groups on the scene. The band had a sound that was big, loud and very catchy and it made them very popular. They were also a band that cared about its audience, which was important in this era of MTV when all the other rock bands were catering to a hardcore teen audience. Bon Jovi, on the other hand, appealed to a wider audience of women and men. They sounded different from their metal rivals, they looked more classy and they even smiled at the cameras onstage.
As the decade progressed, the band slowly shifted their musical focus. They began to lessen the reliance on arena rock guitars and put more emphasis on melody and ballads. They also incorporated elements of soft rock and country. These changes helped them sustain their popularity into the 21st century.
In addition to their many hits, Bon Jovi has also appeared in a number of films. They have had their own film, Slippery When Wet, as well as appearances in such movies as The Boogeyman and The Expendables. The band members have also performed at several benefit concerts, including The Concert for New York City and the first Farm Aid. The band is still touring today and has sold over 130 million albums. They have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bon Jovi has a new album, It’s My Life, out in 2017. In 2016 bassist Hugh McDonald and guitarist Phil X joined the group to form a full five-piece. This is the final album of this lineup before the band begins a hiatus. They are expected to return for more tours in the future. For now, fans can enjoy the hits from the past, which include, Runaway, It’s My Life and You’re All I Need. The group is a household name around the world. They have a huge fan base in the US and Europe.
