Jon Bon Jovi and the Legendary Gym

BON JOVI’s “Legendary” was released in June on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band’s 16th studio album Forever. The Nevil Bernard-directed lyric video features a group of people in a gym as they go through various workouts and dance routines, while a voiceover by Jon Bon Jovi talks about the importance of working hard and never giving up. The single is a mid-tempo rocker that leans into the band’s blue collar roots with references to Neil Diamond and Van Morrison classics, Friday nights and feeling at home in your environment.

BON JOVI, founded in 1983, became one of the biggest pop-metal bands in history thanks to a series of hit albums and stadium-filling concerts. After ushering in the era of pop-metal with their 1986 blockbuster Slippery When Wet and churning out hit singles like You Give Love A Bad Name, Wanted Dead or Alive and Livin’ on a Prayer, the group continued to enjoy success into the 21st century by mixing energetic guitar riffs with strong melodies.

After a decade of relative dormancy, Bon Jovi reemerged in the early 90s with Back in Business and Crush. In 1995, Bon Jovi took on a new challenge when the band started starring in feature films. The group starred in the critically acclaimed 1994 film Lost Highway, which also featured then-newcomer Charlize Theron as a heroine with a dark past. In the ’90s, Bon Jovi continued to find success on the music scene with Keep the Faith and Cross Road. Later, the band’s darker album These Days broadened their artistic style.

In the 2000s, Bon Jovi’s popularity continued to rise, as their hits Kiss the Bride and It’s My Life helped win them a younger audience. The band stayed busy with tour dates and the release of several more albums.

The band’s most recent releases include a greatest hits compilation, Reunion, in 2017. Bon Jovi has also been active in philanthropy, as they’ve launched The Jon Bon Jovi Foundation, which focuses on children’s health and wellness.

Jon Bon Jovi has been a consistent presence on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, scoring a total of 32 Top 10 singles over the course of his career. The band’s iconic sound continues to resonate with audiences around the world. Whether they’re delivering a heart-pounding set or an emotional ballad, the group’s trademark raspy vocals are guaranteed to leave a mark.
